History

Trafalgar Out of School Care Society (the “Society”) was started in 1980 by a group of parents in the school. It’s initial location was in the east end of the primary wing, sharing a classroom. The centre originally was only open from 2:00pm – 6:00pm. With increased enrollment, the program soon moved to the kindergarten room at the west end of the primary wing and operated from 11:30 am – 6:00 pm.
As the program continued to outgrow the space available the parents and staff continued to request relocation to a more appropriate space. Eventually, the centre was relocated to the lunchroom. Expanding from 60 children to 80
children in 2000, we again ran out of space and again lease room 101, the kindergarten room on the west end of the primary wing for our Kindercare program Monday – Friday from 3-6pm. In 2007 Seismic upgrades were scheduled for Trafalgar Elementary School and the daycare was forced to find alternative space. A committee was formed to organize a project that would see a new daycare facility built directly on the grounds next to the school. As the project progressed, the program was moved offsite to temporary spaces until October 2009 when the facility was completed and the kids finally moved in! We currently run three programs; Before and After care for Kindergarten to Grade 7 students; Preschool care for children ages 3-5 years; Occasional care for children 18-48 months.
